ABOUT HOPE FOR ETHIOPIA
On December 8, we will be hosting musicians and spoken-word artists in a celebration of hope for the country of Ethiopia. This will be Church of the Advent Hope's 5th Annual Holiday Benefit Concert. Proceeds from previous concerts have gone towards efforts such as: promoting international human rights; supporting relief efforts for the people of Sudan, Darfur Region; and the prevention of human trafficking. Last year's efforts raised over $20,000.
THE IMPACT OF HOPE FOR ETHIOPIA AND YOUR DONATIONS
Through a partnership with the Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team of La Sierra University, funds raised at Church of the Advent Hope's 5th Annual Holiday Benefit Concert will go directly towards supporting the people of Kaalala, Ethiopia. The many efforts underway in Kaalala include teaching sewing skills to women, helping them to launch a sewing company manufacturing medical scrubs, and building a 1500-square foot facility to house the company. The end result: Job creation, a constant stream of income to the village, and sustainable results... Hope for Ethiopia.

OUR PARTNER IN HOPE FOR ETHIOPIA
Three years ago, our partner in this effort, undergraduates in Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) at La Sierra University in Riverside, California, began developing economic opportunity for the residents of Kalaala, Ethiopia. They started with a solar oven that currently feeds 500 school children a day, an animal bank (including bees, goats, and cows), a computer lab with internet access, and a vocational training center to give the village women sewing skills.
This year, they are teaching the women of the village how to apply their sewing skills by helping them launch a sewing company to manufacture medical scrubs. At present, 250 women have completed an eighteen-month sewing skills curriculum on twenty sewing machines. With local partners, they are teaching them the basics of supply and demand, helping them to set up an assembly line system, calculate production capacity and pricing, and identify buyers for the scrubs in both Africa and the United States. In addition, in conjunction with our project partner, the International Medical Aid Association, they are building a 1,500-square foot facility for the women to begin manufacturing the scrubs.
