Immigration Detainee & Asylum Seeker Visitation

Advent Hope volunteers visit immigration detainees, including asylum seekers, at the Elizabeth Detention Center to converse and enjoy fellowship with them.  In partnership with an ecumenical organization called “First Friends,” dedicated to treating immigrants with dignity and compassion, we often serve as the only link to the outside for many of these detainees who know no one in the United States.

"'When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?' The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'"  (Matthew 25:39-40)

“The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the LORD your God."  (Leviticus 19:34)
