Project Stamp Out Despair -  November 2010

Project Stamp Out Despair provides all those detained in the Elizabeth Detention Center with a gift packet containing writing supplies and stamps so that they may write to their family and friends.  Each packet also includes information about the First Friends visitors program and contact information for those who wish to have a visitor.

In 2010, First Friends will deliver Stamp Out Despair packets in December.

It is a highly successful program as evidenced by the many thank you notes First Friends has received from detainees.  If you would like to help with Stamp Out Despair, we are collecting the following items during the month of November 2010:

  • first class stamps (both within the U.S. and international)
  • aerogrammes
  • envelopes
  • writing paper
  • cards
  • nonretractable pens (detention facility will not accept pens with springs)
