Adult & Young Adult
Relevance
We will embark on a journey exploring the relevance of Christianity and the Bible to our everyday lives. We will begin by learning about Jesus' humanity. Have we ever had moments when we felt as though our family members failed to understand us? Have we ever felt abandoned by our closest companions during a time of deep need? We will also examine underlying Christian tenets and hope to, as a group, answer questions such as, "What does it mean to be a Christian?" "How did Jesus keep the Sabbath?" We will also look into the various prophecies that exist, including the one based on the Mayan calendar that the world will end in 2012. We will intersperse these discussions with current events, examining what the Bible has to say on such matters as debt, large-scale humanitarian tragedies and other topics of interest to the group.
Perspectives
The focus of our group will be to
- Explore multiple perspectives on Christianity, the gospel message and our beliefs
- Explore multiple perspectives on ways to apply our Christian beliefs in our day-to-day lives
- Explore multiple perspectives on the ways that our Christian beliefs and relationship with God can bring us through tough times in our lives
Our group will explore these concepts by reading various books by contemporary (or fairly contemporary) authors like Philip Yancy and Tim Keller to name a few. The first book we will begin on September 10th will be “Where is God When it Hurts” by Philip Yancy. We will cover a chapter a week and will be focused on having open and honest discussions about all of the topics and look forward to many great perspectives from which, we can all learn together.

The Upper Room
This group is geared towards college students and young professionals interested in forming new friendships and studying the Bible together. We meet in the balcony of the church and welcome any new college student or recent graduate and/or young professional. Our journey this fall will take us through the "Freedom Epistle" (Paul's letter to the Galatians) in an attempt to rediscover ways of setting the heart and soul free from past issues and experiences, hard to overcome habits, and present perplexities. Join us for timeless Biblical wisdom on how to recover and cultivate freedom in one's daily life. Breakfast is also served! Collegiate ministries.
