Community service

volunteerinG WITH ADVENT HOPE

We believe that responding to our neighbors’ needs and working together to create a better future for all of us is an essential part of experiencing new life in Christ as a community. We invite you to get involved and sign up for a volunteer shift. We can’t wait to have you on board!

BOWERY MISSION

Every other month, volunteers from Advent Hope partner with The Bowery Mission to serve our neighbors in need by helping prepare meals for those experiencing hunger and homelessness. This hands-on opportunity brings our community together to extend compassion, dignity, and care in a tangible way — offering not just food, but a reminder that every person is seen and valued. Whether you’re chopping vegetables, assembling plates, or serving with a smile, each act of service makes a meaningful difference.

URBAN OUTREACH CENTER

Once a month, Advent Hope volunteers serve at the Urban Outreach Center by preparing, packing, and handing out evening meals to individuals experiencing homelessness. From the kitchen to the outdoors where the food is served, this experience invites volunteers to be a part of the full journey of the meal—working together to create something nourishing and then personally serving with care. It’s a space for meaningful connections where simple acts of hospitality help foster dignity, warmth, and community.

READ ALOUD

Every other month, Advent Hope volunteers visit P169M Robert F. Kennedy School to participate in a Read Aloud program, creating a welcoming and engaging space for students to experience the joy of storytelling. Through reading with enthusiasm and care, volunteers help nurture a love for books while supporting literacy and confidence in young learners. This simple yet meaningful presence fosters connection, encouragement, and a sense of belonging. Reminding each student that their voice and imagination matter.

CARE PACKAGES & SEASONAL OUTREACH

Throughout the year, we prepare and distribute care packages to bless individuals and families in our community during special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving, and other meaningful moments.

These packages are thoughtfully assembled with essential items, treats, and notes of encouragement to remind recipients that they are seen, valued, and loved. Volunteers help by donating items, assembling packages, and distributing them to neighbors in need.

DONATION DRIVE

We host a standing donation drive to support our community through our partnership with HELP Bronx. We welcome gently used and new items for both adults and children, including clothing, shoes, books, diapers, and wipes.

Donations can be dropped off in the designated bins located in the church balcony.

We look forward to volunteering together!
